Just read a wonderful piece by Jon Carroll
that I wish I had written....He writes about how easy it is to get sidelined (or, as our modern educators like to call it, "off-topic") while using the Internet and Google and how after several hours spent on Google one can forget why one is there in the first place. I sometimes have to return to the computer two or three times before I manage to send that urgent email...which reminds me, I never sent that email I intended to send early this morning when I booted up the computer.
Our son set up our computer so that when we return to it, our pictures from Picasa start appearing as a slide show and that distracts me! But what a lovely distraction since many pf our pictures are of our kids, our granddaughter, birds and Paris!
I really shouldn't complain about computer time spent. Since the election is over I am no longer checking www.fivethirtyeight.com or www.pollster.com several times a day. Of course I have suffered withdrawal pains...
