Have you ever known someone who, when you heard them laugh, you just have to smile or laugh? We just lost such a friend. He was a member of my husband's poker group in the town where we used to live. Even when John's laugh woke me from sleep at 1 am, I would smile. He is a person who had no malice in him. I have never heard him say, even jokingly, a hurtful word against anyone.
All his friends agreed that even if one was in the middle of the Astrodome, (or I guess now it would be Reliant Stadium or Minute Maid Park...I do not like corporate names of public places...but that's another story) if John laughed, everyone who knew him would know that he was there too!
John was a yellow-dog Democrat and the sponsor of the College Democrats group....but when the College Republicans couldn't find a faculty sponsor, John agreed to sponsor them. He wanted them to have a voice too. He was also a member of NOW and Planned Parenthood....The world has lost a wonderful person....and I will never forget him or his laugh. My regret is that I don't have a recording of his laugh.
