Belief or Fact?

This post really is a "raving."  I think it is time to return the original usage of Belief to the meaning it once had.  I can choose to believe in God, or my fellow man.  I can have faith in God and my country. I could also choose not to believe in God, or Buddha or Muhammad.  Sometimes my faith is weak.

However, I cannot choose to not believe in, say, gravity.  Gravity is a fact, the earth is round (or almost) is a fact, the sun comes up in the east and sets in the west is a fact.  Although there are still those who don't "believe" in evolution or climate change (aka global warming), these are facts, and indeed both evolution and climate change are still happening.  Some things just are.

While I am at it,  I would also like to suggest using "different from" as opposed to "different than."
And for pete's sake, learn the difference between their, there and they're.

Now I will close.  Have a very good day.
