I have noticed in my long life several things about advice. People who need advice don't ask for it, and people who have good advice to give are often resented for giving it. Since I can write here and not have to listen to the complaints, I will share with you the advice you may or may not need.
I won't be offended if you don't follow the advice.
Never place a black ( or dark wood) table near a window. You will spend most of your time dusting it.
Do not buy a glass top table if you have children or messy friends. Again you will spend time cleaning off the fingerprints, smudges, rings from coffee cups and drinks of other kinds.
I know these things because I have done them....and regretted it.
In another area of my expertise:
Do not criticize your child in front of his friends.
Ditto for your spouse.
Never give your children advice. If they ask you for advice, try to find out what they want to hear, and if it is anywhere near the right thing to do, affirm their decision and, if possible, make a few adjustments.
I will provide more advice at a later date.
