Greetings and Best Wishes for a New Year!
On Christmas Day, we had a high of 78 and it was sunny. Lovely day for all the children to get out and ride their bikes, skate boards, etc and for the rest of us to take nice walks between eating too much and visiting. The next day it was cloudy and the temps dropped rapidly in the evening... which was great because I was ready for a fire in the fire place. Sunday it was cold (high of 38) and rainy, misty with occasional sleet all day. In the late evening, it began to snow, slowly at first then almost blizzard like. (Lucky for us, but not for the people in the Panhandle, the blizzard conditions stayed north of us.) Over night we accumulated about 3 inches of beautiful white snow. We spent the day watching birds come to the food that Tom had risked life and limb to put out, going from window to window, room to room. By Monday it was beginning to disappear, and being well mannered West Texas snow, it was almost gone by Tuesday although it was still cold.
This morning, New Year's Eve Day, I awoke to the most beautiful foggy day. The trees, having lost their leaves, were dramatically displayed. I always have found foggy days to be somewhat comforting....sort of like being wrapped in a cozy blanket. Perhaps it is because, growing up in West Texas, a foggy day is not a windy day! And we have way too many of those.
So have a great 2016 and enjoy whatever nature sends your way....might as well, you won't have any choice in the matter.

Wow!
Several years ago I wrote frequently on my blog spot and then, for reasons I don't remember, I didn't post again or go back to the blog for about 5 years....when I went back I found a message from one of my favorite first graders in Huntsville. I tried to reply to his comment but it had been too long. I was so distressed by this, but finally gave up trying to locate him and get in touch.
Then just a day or two ago I had a facebook friend request....and it was the student who had tried to connect with me on my blog. We have since shared a couple of posts.
I am just delighted that we have made contact.
